Tonewoods

Breedlove’s most used tonewood, myrtlewood, grows along Oregon’s Pacific coast. It is the ideal blend of rosewood, mahogany and maple in presenting balance across the tonal spectrum. Sonically, the Pursuit Exotic Concertina E Bourbon Burst Myrtlewood – Myrtlewood sounds as beautiful as it looks with its stunning finish on its all-figured myrtlewood body. The African ebony fretboard and bridge not only add to the attractive appearance, but is the preferred tonewood for all performance guitars. The L.R. Baggs EAS electronics allow the acoustic sound to be accurately amplified, with the easily accessible sound hole volume control.

Body Shape

The Concertina is Breedlove’s small body guitar, delivering a level of clarity and volume which belie its size. Its 12-frets to the body design make it a joy to play. Extensive Sound Optimisation engineering has resulted in a body shape that has a bigger sound and is more comfortable to play than a traditional parlour.

Top, Back and Side Wood

Myrtlewood offers a strong fundamental with a powerful voice. Grown in the northwest, it is a favourite for many styles of playing and is used primarily for back and sides. Similar to maple, it is clear and bright with superb projection and sustain, and offers a very full and balanced sound. Highly unique, no two sets are alike. Coloration ranges from blonde to taupe.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge

The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your
soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a
gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a
breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you’ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck

Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labour-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.
